Military Appreciation Month: Donating Military Surplus through Client Partnership

Liquidity Services stands by its Core Value, “Doing Well and Doing Good,” and that includes support of our clients’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. Liquidity Services recently donated a selection of military surplus items from its Uncle Sam’s Retail Outlet for a live charity auction for The Wounded Warrior Project, held this spring at PepsiCo’s Trade Show and Training Summit in San Antonio, Texas.

This special auction package was a backpack full of military items, including: canteens, a cot, a portable shower, and a sleeping bag. All these surplus items also contribute to our larger sustainability efforts by extending the life of each item; more than 240 million items have been sold for the U.S. Department of Defense through our GovLiquidation.com marketplace. Liquidity Services also generously matched the funds raised by event attendees during this special auction, a total of $2,000.

It was a privilege to serve as auctioneer for the Casino Night portion of this event, encouraging live bidding from employees and suppliers to raise valuable funds to support the exceptional cause of The Wounded Warrior Project. The results of this client-partnered CSR effort will help to make a difference in the lives of injured service members and their families.

One of Liquidity Services’ CSR pillars is “Support for Troops” and the Company has historically been involved with The Wounded Warrior Project, as well as other causes such as USO, Catch-A-Lift Foundation, Lone Survivor Foundation, and Intrepid Fallen Heroes. A number of Liquidity Services employees and leaders have previously served in the military or have family members who have served or currently serve and we are proud of our efforts to support military veterans!
